A Celebration of 2016: A Year in Music

2016 has been a huge year for me: not only from the many friendships I was able to develop but also due to my love for music and the way I really experienced it this year. From my favorite band releasing their sophomore album to the opportunity to see them three more times throughout the year, to meeting my new best friends and encountering some cool, smaller bands and artists that have made a positive impact on my life. This was my year, a celebration of music and friendships and I can only hope for more in 2017!

FEBRUARY:
February 26, 2016:
The 1975 followed up their debut album The 1975 with I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. This record included more upbeat pop, rock, and love ballads.

MAY:

May 14, 2016: Sweetlife Festival

Sweetlife, a food and music festival hosted by Sweetgreen, was a really big day for me! I met up with a group of my new friends and together we were able to watch many amazing bands and musicians perform on one stage. DIIV, Mac DeMarco, The 1975, Grimes, Blondie, Wolf Alice and more. Though I didn't adventure much around the venue, one stage area was where my life changed with one artist: Mac DeMarco. I had the great pleasure of meeting the artist, an amazing, laid-back indie musician who I've loved for some years now! I also met Wolf Alice and was really able to talk and bond with the whole band! At the end of the night, The 1975 closed down the show with another heart pumping and beautiful performance! 1975! The intimacy I felt that day while in a such a big venue seeing all my favorite musicians is something I'll never forget.
