What's the Deal with Being Mexican?

I've never really thought much about it. My ethnicity was always something I tried to shove away when it became too evident, mainly because it seemed as if the entire world didn't want to hear about it.

Of course, my culture is way too powerful to just merely sweep away.

The amount of beauty Mexican culture withholds is outstanding-- from the delicious home-cooked meals my mother makes to the booming, never ending parties, my roots will never not surprise me.

Being Mexican--especially now, when hatred spews constantly--means more to me than just some label; it's the inspiration behind everything I create, the motivation behind everything I do, and the reason why I am the person I am today.
